Monday, October 5th v.s. Pittston Area

Well, way back in September, we lost 4-1, and we were ready to win our rematch! It was a cool day on the mountain, and we warmed up and were fired up to play. The game began, and it was evident that Pittston Area was hunting for a win, too. Our defense was doing a great job, but soon Pittston Area was ahead 2-0. Our mids, Bobby, Eli, Brandon, and Adam, were doing a great job of dropping to help the defense, but although we were stopping the ball, we weren't connecting with each other down field to score. At half time, it was still Pittston Area's lead, 2-0. Coach reminded us that 2-0 is the easiest lead to lose, and it was our job to make them lose it. Danielle was able to score in the 2nd half, off an assist from Marianna, making it 2-1, but P.A. was able to score again, making it 3-1, and putting it just out of our reach. Great Game Bear Creek! Our record drops to 3-4-3, and we will head to Berwick on Wednesday, and host Wyoming Area on Friday.

Wednesday, September 30th @ Hanover

Well, the season is half over, and our record is 3-3-2. The first time we played Hanover, we tied. It was the first game of the season, and we were still working on playing as a team. We hopefully have worked out all the kinks, and are ready for the game. The game did not look good when it began, but Nick and Ian held the defense together and thwarted many of Hanover's attempts. Good Job guys! Our mids and our forwards were working to pass the ball down the field, but were having no luck putting the ball in the net. Taylor held his own in goal, and held Hanover to 0 goals. Unfortunately, Hanover held us to 0 goals, and we finished the game with a 0-0 tie. That makes our record 3-3-3. We're still continuing to hold our own in the division. Good Game Bear Creek!

Thursday, September 24th v.s. G.A.R.

After our game with Lake Lehman, and plenty of practice, we were ready to face G.A.R. We began the game, and we looked like the team that everyonew knows we are. We made great passes, went to the ball, talked to each other, and even box tackled like Coach Rob taught us! We were in this game and we wanted to win. Bobby was able to score shortly after the game started and put us up 1-0. However, G.A.R. was given a penalty kick in our box. We held our breaths, as Taylor prepared for the kick. He caught it!!! No goal!!! We still were winning 1-0. Brandon had 2 goals, and Danny had one before the half. Unfortunately, G.A.R. was able to get one past our defense and score on Taylor, making the half time score 4-1. Coach reminded us of how great we were playing, and we were ready for the 2nd half. We went back to the field of battle, and found ourselves watching another G.A.R. penalty kick. Taylor did his best, but it made it past him. G.A.R. was able to get another goal, put us unhappily into a 4-3 game. Nora put the game just out of G.A.R.'s reach with 4 minutes left to make it 5-3, which was how it ended... Whewww! What a great game! Good Job Bear Creek!

Tuesday, September 22nd @ Lake Lehman

Although the morning started off gloomy, it was simply cloudy and cool by game time. We were excited to see the farm animals on our way, but when we got to the field, we knew it was time to play. From the whistle beginning the game, we realized we may not have been as prepared as we thought. Lehman's passing skills were good, and they were talking on the field. Our defense did its best and got Lehman offsides several times, but it wasn't enough to stop five goals in the first half. Our offense had a few shots, but none made it in the net. Taylor made an impressive 13 saves before Danny took over in goal. We held Lake Lehman to a scoreless second half, and hopefully will be better prepared when they come to our mountain to play.

Thursday, September 17th v.s. Nanticoke

On Thursday, we were finally back on our home field, after being away at Wyoming Area and Meyers. Nanticoke was coming to Bear Creek for the game, and we believed we were as ready as we could be! The rain had stopped, and blue skies were starting to appear as the game got underway. This seemed to be a sign for the great game that was going to be played! Brandon, making it look effortless, scored 2 goals in the first half; the first goal was from an assist by Nora, and the second one was off a corner kick!! Carisa added a third goal for Bear Creek. Unfortunately, Nanticoke was able to score off of a penalty kick, putting them on the board. At half time, we were leading 3-1. Coach reminded us of how great we played, and pointed out that by doing everything right, we scored goals. We went back out for the 2nd half and we looked great! First, Eli scored, and then Carisa scored from Nora's assist. Brandon added his third goal of the game for his hat trick, and we were able to put our victory out of reach from Nanticoke. The game ended 6-1, and it felt fantastic to win! We hope to keep our win streak as we travel to Lake Lehman on Tuesday, and face G.A.R. at home on Thursday! Way to go Bear Creek!

Tuesday, September 15th @ Meyers

With a record of 1-2-1, we headedd to Meyers hungry for another win! The weather was suprisingly warm, considering the cold weather we have been experiencing lately. We warmed up, and soon things were underway! A few minutes in, we were playing great! We were passing the ball, talking, and moving. Before the first 30 minutes was half over, Danny scored off an assist from Bobby putting us ahead 1-0!!! Yay!!!! However, Meyers was still just as hungry! They were able to get a goal, and tie the game 1-1. We began to show signs of fatigue, and just before the half ended, Meyers scored again, putting us behind 2-1. At halftime, our Coaches reminded us to play hard, like the team that we are, that played together during the beginning of the first half. Soon, into the second half, Danny was able to score again off another assist from Bobby!! That makes a 2-2 game. We all fought tirelessly, but alas, another win was not in our cards, and the game ended in a 2-2 tie. We look forward to meeting Meyers again in October, but now are preparing for Nanticoke at home on Thursday! Go Bear Creek!

Monday, September 14th @ Wyoming Area

We arrived at Wyoming Area's 10th Street Field, and were prepared for the game. We were motivated, excited, and determined, and when the game began, we looked fantastic! The ball was being passed, and we were hustling as we moved down the field. However, we had extreme difficulty finishing, even though we had countless shots on goal! The game turned into a very physical match, and with only one referee, we were left to our speed to beat the other players. W.A. was able to score halfway through the first half, and when Taylor was unable to keep playing, due to a foot to his face, Danny stepped up and took his place in goal for the remainder of the first half. At half time, W.A. had only take 3 shots on goal, but had made 2 of them, putting us down 2-0. We came out strong as the second half started, but were unable to connect on our shots. Although we took 23 shots throughout the entire game and W.A. only had the 3 shots they took in the first half, we lost 2-0. We look forward to our rematch in October in Bear Creek, but for now, we will just have to prepare for our game tomorrow at Meyers!
