Monday, October 5th v.s. Pittston Area
Well, way back in September, we lost 4-1, and we were ready to win our rematch! It was a cool day on the mountain, and we warmed up and were fired up to play. The game began, and it was evident that Pittston Area was hunting for a win, too. Our defense was doing a great job, but soon Pittston Area was ahead 2-0. Our mids, Bobby, Eli, Brandon, and Adam, were doing a great job of dropping to help the defense, but although we were stopping the ball, we weren't connecting with each other down field to score. At half time, it was still Pittston Area's lead, 2-0. Coach reminded us that 2-0 is the easiest lead to lose, and it was our job to make them lose it. Danielle was able to score in the 2nd half, off an assist from Marianna, making it 2-1, but P.A. was able to score again, making it 3-1, and putting it just out of our reach. Great Game Bear Creek! Our record drops to 3-4-3, and we will head to Berwick on Wednesday, and host Wyoming Area on Friday.
Wednesday, September 30th @ Hanover
Well, the season is half over, and our record is 3-3-2. The first time we played Hanover, we tied. It was the first game of the season, and we were still working on playing as a team. We hopefully have worked out all the kinks, and are ready for the game. The game did not look good when it began, but Nick and Ian held the defense together and thwarted many of Hanover's attempts. Good Job guys! Our mids and our forwards were working to pass the ball down the field, but were having no luck putting the ball in the net. Taylor held his own in goal, and held Hanover to 0 goals. Unfortunately, Hanover held us to 0 goals, and we finished the game with a 0-0 tie. That makes our record 3-3-3. We're still continuing to hold our own in the division. Good Game Bear Creek!
Thursday, September 24th v.s. G.A.R.
After our game with Lake Lehman, and plenty of practice, we were ready to face G.A.R. We began the game, and we looked like the team that everyonew knows we are. We made great passes, went to the ball, talked to each other, and even box tackled like Coach Rob taught us! We were in this game and we wanted to win. Bobby was able to score shortly after the game started and put us up 1-0. However, G.A.R. was given a penalty kick in our box. We held our breaths, as Taylor prepared for the kick. He caught it!!! No goal!!! We still were winning 1-0. Brandon had 2 goals, and Danny had one before the half. Unfortunately, G.A.R. was able to get one past our defense and score on Taylor, making the half time score 4-1. Coach reminded us of how great we were playing, and we were ready for the 2nd half. We went back to the field of battle, and found ourselves watching another G.A.R. penalty kick. Taylor did his best, but it made it past him. G.A.R. was able to get another goal, put us unhappily into a 4-3 game. Nora put the game just out of G.A.R.'s reach with 4 minutes left to make it 5-3, which was how it ended... Whewww! What a great game! Good Job Bear Creek!
Tuesday, September 22nd @ Lake Lehman
Although the morning started off gloomy, it was simply cloudy and cool by game time. We were excited to see the farm animals on our way, but when we got to the field, we knew it was time to play. From the whistle beginning the game, we realized we may not have been as prepared as we thought. Lehman's passing skills were good, and they were talking on the field. Our defense did its best and got Lehman offsides several times, but it wasn't enough to stop five goals in the first half. Our offense had a few shots, but none made it in the net. Taylor made an impressive 13 saves before Danny took over in goal. We held Lake Lehman to a scoreless second half, and hopefully will be better prepared when they come to our mountain to play.
